Susan Spellman-Cann
Susan Spellman Cann (@SSpellmanCann) is passionate about school counselling and helping school counsellors. #SCCrowd is a wonderful opportunity to connect, collaborate and consult with counsellors from across the world and that is very exciting in this digital age.
She is presently a School Counsellor in a Self- Directed High School in Calgary, Alberta. Susan graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax with a Bachelor of Child Study as well as a Masters in Counselling from Gonzaga University. She is also a Registered Psychologist. Susan has taught Elementary, Junior High, High School as well as University students. She began her career in 1980 after moving from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to work in a small community in Northern Alberta called Atikameg. Since 1981 she has worked in the Calgary Catholic School District as a Regular and Special Education Teacher as well as a Junior and Senior High School Counsellor. She has also worked in private practice. Susan loves her family, friends and playing women's lacrosse. She began playing lacrosse in the early 70's and yes, she still plays. Susan started seriously connecting on line a year ago after taking a Massive Open Online Course called ETMOOC. She recognizes the importance of being a good citizen as well being a responsible digital citizen. Connecting, Curating and Collaborating online not only helps her, but helps her students as well. Susan loves what she does and is grateful to all the school counsellors who help other school counsellors especially all those that can be found at #scchat #elemchat and #cscchat. She would dearly love to see more school counsellors from around the world get connected and especially those Canadian School Counsellors who have not found twitter yet. She can be found at http://sspellmancann.wordpress.com/ as well as http://about.me/sscann. Thanks to Ross Wolfson for creating #SCCrowd and connecting with me. I am also very grateful to Dr. Erin Mason and Dr. Alec Couros for all their inspiration. |
